I’m new to tatting I actually learned about it through its older cousin the old time knotting. My husband and I love history since we are re-inactors. We love preserving historical heritage. We play in the sca which is a midevik group that actually does midevil jousting and sword fighting. All costumes are done by people who come and are historically accurate. We like anything from the 6th to the 17th century. I was studying what the women at Court would have done mostly for atmosphere. I started learning about knotting and was introduced to tatting. These shudders were my first. I actually grew to like needle tatting better than shuffle tatting. Mostly because of energy I don’t like huge movements even though you can make it look elegant. I feel I can control the stitches easier with the needle. It’s a pain to undo stitches shuddling. It’s kind of a pain getting these bobbins out. You really should have a tool to push the bobbin out as I’ve actually sliced my finger with these ones. It didn’t bleed or anything but it was pretty deep. That’s one reason why I feel needle tatting is a bit easier. It’s also faster than the shuddles are. Over all the quality is nice and I belive their stainless steal. The bobbins can hold a considerable amount of thread and spin easily except for when youe getting close to the end of the thread. Then only the thread spins not the bobbin. I did buy the plastic shuddles that are there cousins and I did like those a lot better. Over all its still a good product for the price but not what I was looking for as it can be a bit sharp.
